Project Description

This project involved the complete creation of a detailed small-scale model of a USS naval ship. The work included precise mechanical modeling, realistic assembly simulation, and final photorealistic rendering using SolidWorks and PhotoView 360.

Timeline

Delivered from initial sketches to final renders within 4 weeks while managing other client projects simultaneously.

Background

The client, a naval enthusiast with a passion for accurate engineering models, requested a compact but highly detailed USS ship representation. The model was intended for educational and presentation use, showcasing structural layout, part assembly, and military-style design accuracy.

Process

A complete end-to-end mechanical design workflow, including planning, CAD modeling, part integration, and final visualization.

Research & Planning

Reviewed real USS ship references and technical layouts to capture key structural components. Planned the part breakdown and determined functional assembly constraints.

Modeling & Assembly

Individually modeled each component using SolidWorks, maintaining real-world proportions. Assembled all parts into a fully constrained mechanical structure ready for animation or presentation.

Rendering & Presentation

Used PhotoView 360 to apply realistic materials and lighting. Multiple high-resolution renders were produced to showcase different angles and details.

Solution

The final model offered high realism and mechanical accuracy, ideal for demonstrations, educational use, or portfolio presentation.

Detailed Naval Architecture

Features all key elements of a real USS ship, including deck levels, lifeboats, antennas, and turrets.

Mechanical Assembly

Fully mated components allow movement visualization and sectional analysis.

Professional Renders

Crisp, photorealistic visuals highlight materials, shadows, and form, suitable for both technical and visual showcases.

Results

The project was well received by the client, who praised the precision, realism, and professional presentation.

Client Satisfaction

The final product exceeded expectations in both visual quality and mechanical fidelity.

Portfolio-Ready Quality

Used as a highlight project to demonstrate expertise in mechanical modeling and SolidWorks rendering.

Increased Project Demand

Led to follow-up inquiries and interest from similar engineering and model-making clients.
